Description

The beginning of August 2020 in Japan commemorates the 75th year after the atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The annual gatherings of 'hibakusha' (atomic bomb victims) are important as people tend to forget over money, consumption, natural disasters and other nuclear-related issues. The speeches of the city majors, survivors and their descendents were impressive and heart-moving, that of the Prime Minister passed ears unheeded. Thankfully, it was the shortest but was felt the longest. Only recently, a few victims have been legally recognized as such, most of them now over 85 years of age, while the ruling party venerates convicted war criminals and has history books edited to its convenience.

The July 2020 version of Lunar Impressions lacks presentable images as weather permitted only two sessions with mediocre seeing during the 7th month of the year. The 17 Days old Moon is from August 7th, planets quickly captured during the sessions are inserted to scale. As for the late publication there are no excuses available :-)

Everybody, please stay well and confident while being careful.
